A profiling and performance analysis tool for people writing their own software

Availability: 

Can be installed on managed Linux workstations on request, and also on compute clusters on request. If you want to use it you should register for a free licence with Intel first.

Instructions for users: 

Once the computer officers have installed the software on your machine load the vtune module to access it.

Licence Details: 

This is proprietary software. However individuals can register for a free licence (which comes without any support) on Intel's website.

Admin notes: 

This software requires the installation of several kernel modules and some sysctl tweaks. It's therefore done by ansible for managed workstations. Add the INTEL_VTUNE_DRIVER tag to the system and then the regular ansible pull run will install it.
