Molecular inhibitor breaks cycle that leads to Alzheimer’s

Dr Tuomas Knowles, Dr Sam Cohen, Dr Paolo Arosio, Prof. Michele Vendruscolo and Prof. Chris Dobson, together with research teams from Sweden and Estonia have identified a molecule that can block the progress of Alzheimer's disease.

Chris Abell to become Pro-Vice-Chancellor

The Department is delighted to announce that Professor Chris Abell has been appointed to become Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research. His appointment will start on 1st January 2016 and will be for a term of three years.

Neil Harris and John Pyle win NERC International Impact Prize.

Professor John Pyle, Dr Neil Harris and colleagues at the University of Cambridge and the National Centre for Atmospheric Science played a leading role in demonstrating the effect of man-made gases on the ozone layer, and the consequences for human health.
