Steve Ley has been awarded the 2013 French–British Prize by the Société Chimique de France.

The society chose Ley to receive this award in recognition of his eminent contributions to organic chemistry, particularly in the design and elaboration of methods and strategies to conceive new reactants and new techniques with a strong impact on the research of academic and industrial communities in France and abroad.

The award also recognises all the links Ley has created with young French postdoctoral chemists who have benefitted from spending time in his lab in Cambridge.

The official prize-giving ceremony will take place early next year. He will also take part in a lecture tour of three French laboratories.
