Research Interests

My interests revolve around the development of renewable energy sources, such as photoelectrocatalysis, thermoelectrics and photovoltaics. Currently, I am working on photovoltaic-photoelectrocatalytic cells, which can split water to produce hydrogen, or reduce atmospheric CO2 under solar light illumination. This interdisciplinary approach is fundamental for the wide-scale implementation of sustainable solar fuels. A further enhancement in the energy conversion efficiency can be expected by adding a thermoelectric component to these hybrid devices, to produce electricity from the existing residual heat.
