Daniel's research explores the impacts of Cellulose Nanocrystals as atmospheric aerosols. Naturally present aerosols can produce a cooling effect, by reflecting sunlight and by promoting the formation of clouds through cloud condensation nuclei. These phenomena can be enhanced through the design and optimisation of bio-inspired nanocrystals in the troposphere and stratosphere. The research will include a rigorous study into the complex network of geopolitical, health and safety issues that may arise, in order to comprehensively understand the risks and rewards of such engineering.

Before joining the group in 2021, Daniel graduated with a first class degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Leeds at Bachelor's level and the University of Cambridge for his Master's.

When not in the lab, Daniel can be found at Fenners, where he captains the University of Cambridge Crusaders cricket team!
