Professor Ada E. Yorath (joint Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2009) visited the department to give a talk entitled "What was first: the genetic code or its products?".
Prof. Yonath, the Martin S. and Helen Kimmel Professor of Structural Biology and Director of the Helen and Milton A. Kimmelman Center for Biomolecular Structure and Assembly at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, was the joint recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009 "for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome".
Prof. Yonath is also receiving an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree from the University on June 18th 2013.
