On 27th and 28th February our department hosted a delegation of 8 academics from the Division of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Led by head of Department, Prof. Soo-Ying Lee, our visitors presented their research to the department, alongside 5 of our own researchers, in a packed afternoon workshop on the 27th February [link to workshop programme file]. We then held a very productive dinner at Downing College later that evening. On the Tuesday, the visitors toured key, state of the art facilities in our department and met one to one with members of staff.
The initiate of Steve Ley, this visit was designed to stimulate interactions between our two departments at a practical level and follows on from the reciprocal visit last September by Oren Sherman, Erwin Reisner, Alessio Ciulli and Paul Barker to NTU.
As a result, there will be several new initiatives between our two departments initially involving undergraduate research projects and moving towards joint PhD programmes. Watch this space for news about upcoming schemes.
We thank Prof. Lee and his team for visiting and look forward to a long period of collaborations.
