The BBSRC has announced the second incarnation of Doctoral Training Partnerships in which £125M is divided between 11 Centres across the UK. The Cambridge DTP has been awarded £15M to fund 150 PhD studentships over the 5 years starting in 2015.
"DTP2" has been led by Professor Alison Smith, Plant Sciences, and a support team drawn from the 17 partner departments and institutions. The Chemistry Department is proud to be one of the partners in DTP2 and with our strong research capability in molecular bioscience look forward to actively contributing to DTP2.
Activities within the DTP are organised under research themes: Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy; Agriculture and Food Security; Bioscience of Health; and World Class Underpinning Bioscience. Across all of these themes, students are also trained in New Ways of Working, focussing on "Big Data" Analysis and new Mathematical analyses of biological information.
More information about the Doctoral Training Partnership is available from the BBSRC website.
