Newnham College invites applications from women and men for Associate Lectureships in Physical Sciences.
Each post will involve the equivalent of three hours’ teaching a week duringFull Term time (20 weeks of the year), primarily to Part I students. Associate Lecturers are also expected to participate in the promotion of their subject amongst students of the College.
The person(s) appointed will have interests in teaching and research in any field of the physical sciences, but the immediate need is for teaching in Part IA Mathematics, Part IA Physics, Part IA Chemistry and Part IB Chemistry for the Natural Sciences Tripos. Experience in supervising one or more of these courses is desirable.
The College pays Associate Lecturers at 25 per cent above the usual supervision rates, offers seven meals a week without charge, use of IT equipment and use of a room while conducting teaching. The post will be tenable only in conjunction with another salaried academic or research appointment in the University of Cambridge or local research institution. It will be tenable from 1st October 2011, for one year in the first instance, and may or may not be renewed on an appropriate basis following a review.
