Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry

 

We are looking for a well-organised person to provide full secretarial and administrative support primarily for the new Unilever Professor of Molecular Sciences Informatics as well as providing support to a small panel of new academics to the department and their respective research groups when required.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The role holder will be able to prioritise and manage their own workload, sometimes against competing deadlines, and possess a high level of patience, tact, discretion, and confidentiality. They will be required to work both independently, acting on their own initiative, as well as part of a small support team. An aptitude for team working and excellent communication is crucial.

Duties will include diary management; coordination of schedules; organising visits, seminars and lectures; arranging meetings both internally and externally with international participants; minute taking; liaising with members of the Department, University and external organisations. In addition, arranging travel and accommodation, recruitment and possibly financial management will be required.

Ideally educated to A level standard or equivalent, the successful candidate will possess excellent IT skills including extensive knowledge of iOS software, website maintenance and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). A familiarity with Microsoft Teams is also essential.
