Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry

We want all material on the website to be interesting, attractive and to reflect credit on the Department and on the individuals within it.  You are welcome to include material about your private life on your personal pages, but are under no pressure to do so.

  • Please follow the University guidelines on web content.
  • The University Human Resources Division publishes a Dignity@Work policy which must be respected.
  • These remain the final authority, backed up by disciplinary procedures.  In addition there may be commercially sensitive material whose publication is restricted by contractual agreements.

Informally, if you follow these Dos and Don'ts you'll be making a good start.

Do:

  • Obtain your supervisor's approval for any material you publish.
  • Summarise your project in terms that a non-specialist can understand, explain what is novel, why it is important and how society will benefit.
  • Acknowledge (and thank) funding agencies and commercial sponsors.
  • Share credit where it's due with your colleagues.
  • Try to conform with the general look-and-feel of the site.
  • Fill in the  'Alternative text' box when uploading images to make them accessible to a screen reader.
  • Say what you enjoy about your work in the department and living in Cambridge.
  • Keep your contributions accurate and up to date - and refresh them from time to time.
  • Remember your audience - the site is a Window to the World!

Don't:

  • Violate any confidentiality agreements or copyrights.
  • Include unlawful material or break any laws.
  • Make disparaging comments.
  • Include or reference offensive material (in particular avoid sex, religion and politics).
  • Attempt to recruit.  Links to clubs and societies are acceptable in personal pages providing it is clear that there is no connection with the Department.
  • Use deep links into any website (including this one) - pages do get moved from time to time, breaking any links to their old location.
  • Do or say anything which contravenes any regulations of the Department.
