Sphere Fluidics, a spin-out founded in 2009 by Prof Chris Abell and Prof Wilhelm Huck, has won an Academic Enterprise Award for the best
European Life Sciences company.

This high-profile award is now in its 5th year and is the only pan-European award for academic spin-outs. It was awarded following a 'dragon's den' presentation by the finalists to a judging panel and audience of 200 delegates at a conference in Brussels in early June debating the importance of linking research, innovation and entrepreneurship. Sphere Fluidics was represented at the event by their Chairman, Dr Andrew Mackintosh. Sphere Fluidics is applying microdroplet technology to single cell studies, with a particular focus on biopharmaceuticals.
