The department held a Green Impact Day on Friday 1 April, with activities designed to encourage department members to think of creative ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

Roxanne Middleton wins Silver in SET for BRITAIN poster competition

Chemistry Department PhD student Roxanne Middleton was awarded the Silver Award for her research poster at the SET for BRITAIN exhibition of posters by early-career research scientists at Westminster on 7 March 2016.

Dr Gonçalo Bernardeshas won the Chem Soc Rev Emerging Investigator Lectureship 2016 in Chemical Biology, which recognises emerging scientists who have made a significant contribution to their research field.
There was standing room only in the Wolfson Lecture Theatre as friends, family, postdocs, students and academics watched Yusuf Hamied receive the inaugural Alumni Medal from The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz.
