Research Associate

Dr. Luis Escobar was born in Albacete, Spain. He received his Bachelor Degree in Chemistry from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) in 2014. Then, he moved to the University of Rovira and Virgili (URV) and the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) to pursue his Master Degree and PhD under the supervision of Prof. Pablo Ballester. During his PhD, he also performed a research internship in the group of Prof. Jonathan L. Sessler at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin. In 2019, he earned his PhD from the URV and the ICIQ. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral associate with Prof. Thomas Carell at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) of Munich for almost three years. In 2023, he joined the group of Prof. Christopher A. Hunter at the University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral associate. His current research involves the design, synthesis, and characterization of recognition-encoded synthetic information molecules. In this spare time, he enjoys reading, walking, and travelling.
