Jason Chin gave one of the annual Solvay Public Lectures in Brussels on 20 October.

Held by the International Solvay Institutes in Brussels, these lectures are part of a public event that is part of the Institutes’ mission to popularise science. In his lecture, Chin spoke about his work on reprogramming the genetic code, enabling new proteins to be made.

He is in good company, with many illustrious scientists having given Solvay Public Lectures in previous years. These include Nobel laureates Harry Kroto, Jean-Marie Lehn, Rudolph Marcus, Wolfgang Ketterle, Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, Gerard ’t Hooft and Kurt Wüthrich, Other notable past lecturers include Stephen Hawking and George Whitesides.
