Research Fellow

My research focuses on the controlled and sustainable synthesis of porous carbon materials and their applications in energy storage, CO2 capture, and resource recovery. I am particularly interested in developing more sustainable routes to carbon materials, including exploring alternative carbon sources and using salts and metals to lower synthesis temperatures, improve carbon yields, and tailor pore structures and surface functionalities.

I also use structurally defined carbon materials to understand how their pore structure and surface chemistry influence performance in batteries and supercapacitors, as well as in environmental applications such as capturing CO2 from air and recovering gold from wastewater.

Essentially, I am interested in finding smarter and more sustainable ways to make carbon and then making carbon work smarter. : P
