Dr Ben Pilgrim, who now holds a Royal Society URF at the University of Nottingham, was a Herchel Smith scholar in the Nitschke Group.
We are inviting applications for a Herchel Smith Research Fellowship in organic or biological chemistry, to start in October 2025.
Herchel Smith postdoctoral fellowships offer outstanding young scientists three years of funding, a research allowance, and a significant degree of independence.
This Fellowship, which starts October 2025, gives a highly motivated scholar the opportunity to focus exclusively on research at an early stage in their career. Fellows work in an established research group here but will be expected to demonstrate independence and will have the opportunity to produce research of an international standard within the field.
The application deadline is 9 December 2024.
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent within the last three years at any university excluding Cambridge and Harvard.
- Less than three years of postdoctoral experience when the Fellowship is taken up (with allowance for career breaks).
- A high quality and original research proposal.
- Evidence of outstanding academic excellence, and potential as an independent researcher.
We actively support equality, diversity and inclusion, and encourage applications from all sections of society.
