Professor Mariana Rossi appointment announcement

The Department of Chemistry is pleased to announce that Dr Mariana Rossi has been elected as the next Unilever professor of molecular sciences informatics. She will join the Department in January 2026.

Dr Rossi is currently a Lise Meitner Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg. Her research focuses on developing practical methodologies to investigate the electronic and nuclear properties of complex materials, spanning a broad range of chemical phenomena.

Originally from Brazil, Dr Rossi completed her undergraduate studies at the University of São Paulo. She has previously worked at the Fritz Haber Institute in Berlin, EPFL in Lausanne, and the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Oxford.

Highly regarded within the theoretical and computational chemistry community, Dr Rossi will bring some very exciting new science to the Department and to Cambridge more widely. We look forward to welcoming her.
