Tickets are still available for the annual WiSETI (Women in Science, Engineering & Technology Initiative) lecture on Thursday 17 March at 5:30 pm in Churchill College.
The lecture "Do you have to be a genius to be an astrophysicist" will be given by Professor Meg Urry, current President of the American Astronomical Society and the first speaker for this lecture from the US. As well as being an extraordinary scientist, Prof Urry is one of the most prominent advocates for supporting women in science in the USA. This is WiSETI’s flagship annual event where a distinguished woman scientist is invited to speak about her life and work. Prof Urry, who is also Director of the Yale Center for Astronomy & Astrophysics, will share insights on her research into supermassive black holes & advocacy for women in science in the USA.

Tea and coffee will be available from 5 pm and a drinks reception will take place after the lecture between 6:30 - 7:15 pm. The event is sponsored by Schlumberger Gould Research Centre and will be hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.
