The Rotary Club of Cambridge South has once again been given permission to use the Department's car park over the holiday season to raise money for local charities.

The Club will open the car park to the public for the excellent value of £6 a day, on the following dates:

  • Saturdays: 5th, 12th, 19th December, 2nd January (9:30 – 5 pm)
  • Sundays : 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th December, 3rd January (10:30 – 5 pm)

The car park will also be open from 10:30 – 5 pm on:

  • Monday 28th December
  • Wednesday 30th December
  • Thursday 31st December

The Club has already raised £2400 over the three University sites it is operating on the first day of the scheme.  The other sites are Downing College and Cambridge Assessment.

Last year over £35,827 was collected, of which £5,828 came from the Chemistry car park.  The money was donated to a range of local charities, including East Anglia’s Children Hospice, Cambridge Dial-a-Ride, Romsey Mill, Guildford Rotary Eye Project, Wintercomfort, Campod and the University of Cambridge Veterinary School Trust.

The Rotary Club of Cambridge South will manage all public aspects of the car park, involving 400 plus work hours, covered by around 200 members, partners and friends of the Club.  Spaces will be available for department users as usual, with a valid car parking permit.
