Professor Alex Forse has been awarded a 2025 Philip Leverhulme Prize, recognising the outstanding work of the Forse Group in developing innovative materials to tackle climate change.

The Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry congratulates Professor Alex Forse and his research group for this remarkable achievement. The highly competitive prize celebrates exceptional researchers whose work has already gained international recognition.

For the Department, this award ultimately recognises the achievements of the Forse Group and their pioneering research into materials for climate change mitigation. Reflecting on the announcement, Forse said: “This award is an award for our whole research team which recognises our work together over the past six years in Cambridge. I am extremely proud of our team and what we have achieved together so far.”

Looking ahead, Forse added: “I plan to use the money to hire a new team member to join the group’s efforts on understanding and developing materials for climate change mitigation.”
