The Clinical School will host a talk by Prof Frances Balkwill, OBE, FMedSci, on 4 March 2016, to mark International Women's Day.
Frances Balkwill is Professor of Cancer Biology at Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, where she studies links between cancer and inflammation and researches ways of translating this to clinical therapies.
She is also actively involved in communication of science to non- specialist audiences, especially young people. She has written thirteen science books for children on cell and molecular biology, with titles such as 'Enjoy Your Cells' and 'The Egg and Sperm Race'.
The talk, entitled "Not only...but also..." will be held on Friday 4 March at 4:15 pm in the Clifford Allbutt Building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Refreshments will be available from 3:45 pm. The event is hosted by the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, to mark International Women's Day on 8 March.
