Dr Tuomas Knowles, Dr Sam Cohen, Dr Paolo Arosio, Prof. Michele Vendruscolo and Prof. Chris Dobson, together with research teams from Sweden and Estonia have identified a molecule that can block the progress of Alzheimer's disease.

Chris Abell to become Pro-Vice-Chancellor

The Department is delighted to announce that Professor Chris Abell has been appointed to become Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research. His appointment will start on 1st January 2016 and will be for a term of three years.

The results of the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 are now in, revealing an outstanding performance by the Department of Chemistry. 57 percent of our overall submission received the highest rating of 4* - defined as ‘world-leading’.
