Feltrinelli International Prize awarded to Chris Dobson

The Department is delighted to announce that Chris Dobson has been awarded the 2014 Feltrinelli International Prize by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
Tuomas Knowles has been awarded the 2014 British Biophysical Society Young Investigator Medal and Award, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics Young Scientist Prize for Biological Physics.
The pharmaceutical chemist and philanthropist Dr Yusuf Hamied, who received his PhD from the Department, has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree by the University.
Dr Yusuf Hamied will introduce a screening of the acclaimed documentary "Fire in the Blood" on 17 June from 4 - 6 pm in the Wolfson Theatre of the Department of Chemistry.
Prof Matthew Gaunt and co-workers have revealed a unique way to activate traditionally unreactive C-H bonds in organic compounds and transform then into useful functional groups that will make it easier to create drug-like molecules.
