One of the first 'live' events post-Covid didn't disappoint.

The staff garden party was held this summer for the first time since a little virus called SARS-CoV-2 first disrupted our celebrations in 2020. So the day was especially enjoyable, as we soaked in the warm and sunny weather while munching away on scones and afternoon tea in the delightful surroundings of the Peterhouse Deer Park (where nary a deer was seen to be wandering).  Head of Department James Keeler said: “This was our first department-wide social activity for quite awhile, so we were all looking forward to it with great anticipation. We hope that it was only the first of many more.”

And certainly the return of the traditional Summer Garden party is a much-welcomed part of the gradual revival of convivial gatherings in real life.
