Members of the Centre for Misfolding Diseases in support of Purple Day.

On Wednesday 26th March, members of the Centre for Misfolding Diseases (CMD) raised money and awareness about epilepsy in support of “Purple Day” – the International Day for Epilepsy.

Members of the CMD were encouraged to wear purple on the day, with information about different types of seizures and seizure first aid available to read, as well as cakes and sweet treats in the coffee room. There was also a competition to find Gus the Gnome (the Epilepsy Society’s mascot) in the laboratory picture, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

A grand total of £131 was raised on the day for the Epilepsy Society. You can still make a donation to the Epilepsy Society using the JustGiving page.

The event was organised by Becky Gregory (Research Assistant in the Knowles Group) who has raised money for the Epilepsy Society for many years, having been diagnosed with the condition as a teenager.

“Thank you to everyone that made the effort to wear purple or to donate. The day was a great success and I am really pleased that we were able to raise some awareness about epilepsy.”
