Mental Health Awareness Week ran from 12 – 18 May with a theme of community and connection. The University hosted a wide range of events to mark the occasion.
This included a Sports Day on 14 May hosted by the Active Staff Programme – a unique day connecting staff through sport which some of our department members attended. The Sports Day was full of energy and connection, with activities like tennis, padel, a fun run, netball, volleyball and many more opportunities for everyone to get moving and support their well-being.
Kathleen Pickett, our HR and Administration Coordinator and Wellness Officer, also organised a display in our Cybercafé, showcasing resources and messages from Mental Health Awareness Week. She stated "As we all have mental health, mental ill health is something that can affect many of us, whether directly ourselves or in relation to friends, family and colleagues. Keeping the mental health conversation alive is so important and the recent display in the Cybercafé aimed to do this, by showcasing resources that support mental health."
