We've welcomed many new starters this year, while at the same time we wished the best of luck to many colleagues who decided to move on to pastures new including other opportunities within the University.

We also wished Mike Todd-Jones a very happy retirement. Mike joined the Department in 2001 as Assistant Librarian and retired on the 30th of September. Mike writes: "A massive thank you to everyone in the Department who contributed to my John Lewis gift card and for the lovely messages in my retirement card. When I joined the Department back in 2001 I was made very welcome from the outset and many colleagues quickly became friends. I've always found the Department friendly and supportive, and it has been a great place to work - I'll miss you all!"
We also sadly said goodbye to several former colleagues who died in 2022, including Professor Ray Freeman, Professor Mary McPartlin, Stephen Sears and Alan Dickerson.
