Francesca Firth, fourth-year PhD student in the Grey Group

About one week into lockdown last year, I realised it might go on longer than expected, and since I have a short haircut (especially at the back) I knew it would get very uncomfortable very quickly... I managed to get one of the last available sets of clippers, but all the hair scissors were already sold out - however, moustache scissors weren't!! I can happily confirm they work fine on normal hair too! It took me a while to learn how to use clippers, especially on the back of my head, but I felt very complimented in the summer when someone asked me where on earth I'd found an open hairdresser!

Francesca looking very stylish

Dr Catherine Pitt, Computer Officer

My husband's been cutting mine with clippers, and the first time he went a bit too short!

Definitely a short back and sides - but on Catherine it still seems to look great!

It must be noted by this intrepid reporter, that at Sue Begg's Goodbye Zoom, Professor Bobby Glen admitted that he has been using his cat's buzz cutter to keep stylish (set on number six).

And speaking of animals, a certain pooch known to the Department is also in need of a haircut.
