Thank you to everyone who has donated a small gift to the Christmas collection box outside the Zhang lab. If you are interested in donating then you have until 15 December to leave a gift.

The collection was organised by Jessica Wilson, an MPhil student in the Zhang lab studying bio-material interfaces.

The gifts go to a primary school to be wrapped and gifted to children who don’t receive presents for Christmas.

Jessica says: “Every year, as many as one in five kids across the UK may not receive any Christmas presents due to financial struggles. My mother works in a primary school in Bransholme, Hull, which is a particularly deprived area and a lot of the children don’t get any Christmas presents. For the past 10 years, my mum has been trying to engage with companies and charities to make sure each of them can open something on Christmas Day, but we can always use more gifts and wrapping paper. This is especially important this year given the cost of living crisis."

If you would still like to donate then the box will be outside lab 290 until the 15 December. The drive is always looking for more of the following:
•    Toys
•    Chocolate selection boxes
•    Books
•    Wrapping paper

Goods can be second hand if they are clean and in good condition. They can be donated unwrapped or wrapped and with a note explaining what is inside so that it can be allocated properly.
