The Department’s Summer Garden Party will be held on Wednesday the 6th of July from 2pm at Peterhouse.

This year the party will take the form of a traditional afternoon tea, which will be held in the Deer Park. Head of Department James Keeler says there is no need to worry about hungry deer eating our scones, however, as apparently there haven’t been any deer in the park for a number of years now!

Our last two planned Summer Garden Parties were rudely gate crashed and cancelled by a little virus called SARS-CoV-2, so this is an event to look forward to with anticipation. James says: “This is our first department-wide social activity for quite awhile, and we hope that it’s only the first of many more.”

And certainly, whether the sun shines or the wind blows, the return of the traditional Summer Garden party is a much-welcomed part of our gradual re-introduction to convivial gatherings in real life.

The event will be held Dining Hall in the (hopefully unlikely) event of inclement weather. See photos of the 2019 (wet) and 2018 (gloriously sunny) summer garden parties.
