Chung Tu serving cakes at the Macmillan cake morning

(Left) Beautifully decorated and delicious!

In September, bakers from across the department poured sugar, flour and love into their homemade bakes to support the Macmillan Coffee Morning.

The wide selection of goods on offer not only tempted our collective sweet tooth, but also raised £435 for support for people living with cancer.

Macmillan coffee mornings are hosted all over the UK on in September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a national charity whose aim is to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can.

The coffee morning was ably organised by our Wellbeing Advocates Kathleen Pickett and Chung Tu, who develop and promote wellbeing initiatives in the department to bring staff members together. Kathleen says: “It’s such a fun and worthwhile event for the department to run, and we really appreciate the kindness of the bakers donating their time and delicious offerings and also those who generously donate money and help out. It’s well known that helping others also improves our own wellbeing and it’s such a deserving charity to help."

Chung adds: “It’s great to support such an important cause and see such skilled bakers within the department. A big thank you to everyone who made the day successful."

The Macmillan coffee morning is swiftly becoming an established and much-anticipated event on the departmental calendar, and we look forward to even more delicious items next year!

Hurry up before they're all gone!                                                                A wonderful selection!
