Portrait of Lisa Masters

Lisa Masters, a senior secretary of the administration support services department, has won a Professional Services Recognition Award for Innovating and Improving. Congratulations to Lisa for this outstanding achievement!

Congratulations also go to Anthony Gill and Alice Woodhouse of the Cybercafé were shortlisted for the Professional Services Award.

Lisa comments that she is truly flattered to hear that her work is appreciated and making a difference.

“My colleagues are a real pleasure to work with and I’d like to thank them for taking the time to nominate me.”

One of the biggest challenges of the last year, to no surprise, was working around the pandemic. Lisa noted that supporting people remotely has been the biggest obstacle, especially the students.

With downs there are also ups and Lisa notes that last year’s highlight for her was running a full programme of RIG seminars with her team. As the restrictions eased they could run hybrid seminars which have been well-received.

“I’d like to thank Adam Přáda and our theatre technicians for their dedication in ensuring the technical set up is in place to facilitate these.”

So, what motivates Lisa everyday? When asked, the answer was:

“This one is easy! I’m inspired by my colleagues. Aside from the amazing research, the Theory groups and support staff who work alongside me are all so nice and supportive of me, and each other. I am proud to be a part of that.”

We also want to extend a big thank you to everyone who looked for the stars in their teams and put them up for nomination.

The scheme was designed to recognise outstanding performances from support services from all across the University.

The award was presented at a celebratory online Awards Event on the 14th December. There is more information on the Professional Services Recognition Scheme and a full list of winners over six categories here.
