As Global Consultant to AstraZeneca (AZ), Professor Matthew Gaunt has continued to forge strong connections with AZ since its move to Cambridge in 2016. 

Professors Spring, Vendruscolo, Scherman, Jackson and Goodman also have significant collaborations with AZ and its subsidiary, MedImmune.

AstraZeneca supports studentships within the Department. The AstraZeneca Cambridge PhD Programme is a 10-year undertaking to provide funding for a minimum of nine annual four-year PhD studentships in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacology. All students are given time to conduct research at the AZ Centre located at the nearby Cambridge Biomedical campus. They receive a tailored career development programme and an AZ-based project supervisor.
