The results of the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 are now in, revealing an outstanding performance by the Department of Chemistry. 57 percent of our overall submission received the highest rating of 4* - defined as ‘world-leading’.
Head of Department Professor Daan Frenkel said:
“These results demonstrate the Department’s strength as one of the leaders in its field both in the UK and internationally. Our competition is international, and in that competition, scientific excellence is crucial.”
Professor Frenkel thanked all members of the Department for time spent on the submission, saying: “This REF result would never have been possible without your efforts in carrying out top research, and in making this Department a happy and inclusive place to work.”
