The UK Chemistry Olympiad is a challenging competition for post-16 students.

Open to all institutions teaching 16-19-year-old students in the UK, the UK Chemistry Olympiad is run by the Royal Society of Chemistry and is the leading chemistry competition for students in secondary education. The competition includes a selection weekend that takes place here in Cambridge.

Schools have until 11th January 2018 to register for the upcoming Olympiad. Round one is a written test of chemical knowledge that takes place at students' schools. It will take place between 15th and 25th January 2018.

Round two is a demanding long weekend hosted by the University of Cambridge. Over the course of four days, 4th-7th April 2018, the successful students from round one will face a rigorous series of theoretical and practical tests, designed to raise aspirations by challenging them to make the best possible use of their knowledge. It’s also an opportunity to meet leading academics in the chemical sciences.

We will choose four students from round two to represent the United Kingdom in the 50th International Chemistry Olympiad which will be hosted in Bratislava, Slovakia and Prague, Czech Republic in July 2018.
