Here is a short video-tour of our labs
The Cambridge Atmospheric Simulation Chamber (CASC)
A 5.4 m3 Teflon chamber equipped with tanning lights to simulate solar irradiation. CASC can be used in both static and continuous flow conditions to better reproduce atmospheric steady-state reaction conditions and ensure that enough material can be collected for further analysis while working at relevant atmospheric conditions.
UHPLC-MS/MS
A liquid chromatography system equipped with a Sciex 5500+ QTRAP mass analyser for applications that require pushing the limits of state-of-the-art sensitivity.
LTQ-Orbitrap
High-resolution mass spectrometer (resolution about 100,000) made of a linear ion trap followed by an orbitrap mass analyser. It can be used coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) or direct infusion chip-based nanoelectrospray or liquid extraction surface analysis (LESA).
LTQ Velos
Linear ion trap mass spectrometer that allows fragmentation experiments MSn for better structure identification of organic molecules. It can be used coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) or direct infusion chip-based nanoelectrospray or liquid extraction surface analysis (LESA).
Liquid extraction surface analysis (LESA) and nano-electrospray ionisation
In combination with both the LTQ-Orbitrap or the LTQ-Velos, this chip-based nanoelectrospray device allows for direct infusion analysis of liquid samples with lower matrix effects compared with traditional electrospray ionisation, and spatially-resolved surface analysis with a soft-ionisation technique that preserve intact the molecular ions.
Cold electrodynamic balance (CEDB)
A system for the levitation of single particles, which carry electric charge, applicable for low temperature studies. It can be used to study the evaporation rates and freezing ability of supercooled droplets, to assess their ability to act as ice nuclei in the atmosphere.
High definition stereolithographic 3D printer
The XFAB 3500HD printer is a 3D printer working with the laser stereolithography technology, with a resolution down to 10 microns.
