Hi, I am Kaizhong (he/him), welcome to my bio page!
My interest in biomaterials originated from my undergraduate research project on developing multi-responsive artificial cells using polymer/protein conjugate, which mimic different cellular behaviours. From there, I found that I am very much drawn to work at the interface of chemistry, materials and biology. I am very fortunate to join Zhang Group for my PhD where multidisciplinary research is rich and vibrant.
My project aims to build a electron highway at the interface of cyanobacteria and electrode using redox-active polymer, which could wire the cell to electrodes. This whole cell-based biohybrid system enables us to combine the strengths of both natural photosynthesis and synthetic materials to achieve synergy in solar fuel generation.
Outside the lab, I am an avid car enthusiast, I enjoy going on roadtrips.
