Applications are invited for a fully funded 3.5-year PhD studentship in the field of synthetic biology and gene editing, based in the Department of Chemistry at Cambridge University under the supervision of Dr Julian Willis. We are recruiting talented and motivated new PhD students to start in October 2025 (2025/2026 academic year) from UK, EU and international applicants. Funded PhD studentships are available. All applicants should apply via the Department of Chemistry’s PhD programme (Application deadline: 3rd December 2024). When applying, opt in for funding through the Applicant Portal to be eligible to win funding from various Cambridge University sources.

In addition, applicants from USA should apply for funding via the Cambridge Gates Trust (Application deadline: 16th October 2024 for US residents), Fullbright Scholarship (Application deadline: 8th October 2024), and Marshall Scholarship (Application deadline: 24th September 2024). Applicants from Hong Kong should apply for funding via the Croucher Foundation (Application deadline: 15th November 2024).
