I am a Chemistry PhD student interested in surface chemistry and fire research. Broadly, this interest involves looking at how flammable components may be recovered from a surface for forensic interest, or, prevented from being a fire hazard when present on a surface such as on clothing or skin. I work closely with a breadth of experts both within academia and industry, as well as across institutions for my current research on my latter interest.

My Essex Fire and Rescue Award, for Best Fire Related Undergraduate Project (Anglia Ruskin University), is one of my proudest achievements. My successful MPhil study (University of Cambridge) was to further this research on the development of a novel adsorbent for the detection of ignitable liquids from human skin / other surfaces.

Having previously been a secondary science teacher, I am always keen on any opportunity for outreach work to engage others in the chemical sciences.
