SynTech Centre for Doctoral Training

Projects in this theme will develop the practical skills required for setting up kinetic experiments, acquiring kinetic data based on spectroscopic techniques, using dynamic kinetic experiments in automated systems & advanced multi-variate analysis techniques for data analysis and kinetic design of experiments. Setting up kinetic models based on mechanisms and mechanistic hypothesis will be linked with advanced techniques of model-based design of experiments, to develop skills in developing statistically rigorous kinetic models. Students will learn how to use such models in setting-up prior to machine learning-based process optimisation, as well as how to use automated systems & statistical dynamical process models to help to interpret kinetic schemes. This theme is a key element in providing advanced skills for process engineers of the future.
