Simon Williams

Phd Candidate (started 2011, finished Sept 2015)

Paterson Group

After completing his undergraduate studies, Simon received a Todd-Raphael scholarship from the department to fund half the cost of his PhD, which encouraged him to stay.  Simon thinks that the department has the best lab in the country to do total synthesis of such complex targets, and the sheer knowledge of the people he meets and works with makes it a highly stimulating environment to learn and do research.  Simon’s PhD research in organic chemistry was in natural product total synthesis and he is continuing his postdoctoral research in the department.
