Dr. Vijay Rana completed his PhD in May 2016 at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland and worked mainly on the synthesis and modification of activated carbon for the adsorption of persistent organic pollutants from water. Moreover, he was involved on the cyclodextrin-based host-guest complexation chemistry. From 2008 to 2012, Vijay was a senior project assistant at several National laboratories (N.C.L. and I.I.S.E.R. Pune) in India. Meanwhile, he got a chance to conduct research at the Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea as an exchange student.  He worked on the development of biopolymer nanocomposites, modification of graphene/CNTs and the synthesis of mesoporous organosilica for drug delivery applications.

In November 2016, Vijay was awarded the 'Swiss National Science Early-Postdoctoral Fellowship' and joined Prof. Oren Scherman’s research group at Melville Laboratory for Polymer Synthesis, University of Cambridge. He worked mainly on the expansion of water-based positively charged polymeric colloidal crystals. Later, in June 2018, he was awarded 'Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship' and now his research focus is on the development of carbon materials-based dynamic supramolecular hybrid structures using cucurbit[n]uril (CB[n])-based host-guest complexation.
