Dr Sitthivut Charoensutthivarakul

Sitthivut (Nham) was born in Bangkok and received his first-class BSc in Chemistry from Mahidol University in 2010. His final year research was focused on the isolation and characterisation of natural compounds from microorganisms. He then moved to the UK to pursue his PhD in medicinal chemistry at University of Liverpool under the supervision of Prof. Paul M. O'Neill. His thesis is entitled 'From medicinal chemistry optimisation of antimalarial 2-aryl quinolones to synthesis and application of endoperoxide activity-based protein profiling probes'. After completing the doctoral studies in 2014, he joined the AWOL drug discovery group (http://awol.lstmed.ac.uk) at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine working on the hit-to-lead optimisation of anti-Wolbachia molecules. Currently, he's a research associate working with Prof. Chris Abell and Dr Anthony Coyne using fragment-based drug discovery approaches to identify antimycobacterial agents.
