Dr Phoebe Allan

I am a Junior Research Fellow at Gonville and Caius College and a Oppenheimer Research Fellow in the School of Physical Sciences.  I work with the group of Professor Clare Grey in the Department of Chemistry.  

My research focuses on understanding charging processes in electrochemical systems such as sodium-ion batteries and electric double-layer capacitors (also known as supercapacitors) using techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction, pair distribution function analysis, solid-state NMR and X-ray adsorption spectroscopy.  I am particularly interested in the role that local-structure plays in determining the physical properties of both the electrode materials themselves, and the interactions between the electrolyte and the electrode surface.
