Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry

During my undergraduate and master's degrees at AgroParisTech (the top French Grande Ecole for Bioengineering), I specialised in Biotechnologies. My master's thesis revolved around using CRISPR/Cas9 to insert a gene of interest into the metabolic pathway of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for the bioproduction of a compound of interest.

As part of the Sensor CDT, I am currently doing my PhD in Prof. Sophie Jackson’s group, in collaboration with AstraZeneca (Dr Nick Bond) and Dr JJ Phillips at the University of Exeter. My current research focuses on the physical stability of novel forms of therapeutic antibodies investigated with hydrogen-deuterium mass spectrometry and biophysical techniques (differential scanning calorimetry, intrinsic fluorescence upon chemical denaturation and stopped-flow spectroscopy).
