Next Generation: Professorships

A Cambridge Professorship represents the pinnacle of academic achievement. Named Professorships are the means by which we can attract (and retain) the very best minds from across the world to lead our research and teaching. Chemistry’s Next Generation Professorships are awarded to our most outstanding researchers, and external candidates from across the globe.

By supporting our most senior academics, donors can help some of the most extraordinary people on earth to change the world, either through a fixed-term appointment for 10 years or through an endowed post.

A new 10-year fixed term Next Generation Professorship can be immediately significant as the Professor will be given the flexibility and funding to undertake urgent cutting-edge research in emerging fields.

An endowed Next Generation Professor is a permanent fixture and will join prestigious endowments such as the Lucasian Professorship of Mathematics, which is famed across the world as the post held by Sir Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking, or the nearly five hundred-year old Regius Professorships founded by Henry VIII.

Please contact our Head of Department, Professor John Pyle, to discuss an endowment.
