Jayamurugan Govindasamy ("GJ") was born and raised in Tamilnadu, India. After obtaining his Masters degree in Organic Chemistry from University of Madras, he moved to the Prof. N. Jayaraman’s research group at IISc, Bangalore for doctoral studies. He was awarded PhD in 2009 for his research on the synthesis and studies of poly(propyl ether imine) dendrimers. Subsequently, he moved to ETH-Zurich to work with Professor François Diederich as a postdoctoral fellow. His research at ETH-Zurich was aimed at expanding the chemical structure space of push-pull chromophores with interesting opto-electronic properties. Since January 2013, he is working as a postdoc in the group of Jonathan R. Nitschke at the University of Cambridge on the rotor based cages based on self-assembly and metal-organic helical polymers.
