Dr Alesja Ivanova

My research focuses on bio-inspired engineering of functional materials. In particular, I exploit the fabrication of porous scaffolds and nanocomposites assisted by cellulose nanocrystals. Such crystals demonstrate intriguing self-organization to periodic photonic structures, which opens new horizons for designing optical materials.

I completed my PhD in 2015 at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich in the group of Prof. Thomas Bein. In my doctoral thesis I developed nanoporous metal oxides for photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications.
