The Department of Chemistry is pleased to announce two Senior Academic promotions.

Andreas Bender (pictured right) has been promoted from a Lecturer in Molecular Informatics to a Reader.  His work is focused on the prediction of properties of (mainly) small molecules molecules which could be of therapeutic interest, primarily in the life science field.

Markus Kalberer has been promoted from Reader in Atmospheric Science to Professor.  His research covers atmospheric aerosol particles (with a size ranging from a few nanometers to tens of micrometers), which are key components in the climate system, and are associated with respiratory and cardo-vascular diseases.

Congratulations to both of these esteemed colleagues.
